27/10/08 - Moyers
tests Carrera Cup Porsche with Team Parker Racing
Michael Moyers joined leading Carrera Cup outfit
Team Parker Racing for a test at Silverstone last
week. Following his decision to switch to sportscar racing from single
seaters, Moyers has set up a
series of winter tests as he decides which championship
to enter in 2009.
In perfect conditions on Thursday,
Moyers got his first taste of the power of a Porsche
Carrera Cup
car
- and loved every
second of it. After stepping out of the car at the end of the test,
Michael
said:
“
this was the first time I had tested a rear wheel sportscar,
so I had a lot to learn.” He
added: “I
immediately felt at home in the car but having 430bhp
under my right foot
I knew
I had to tread
carefully to begin with. My
first stint went well and was just about
adapting
to
the
power, brakes and
handling.
The second stint I pushed a bit harder
and felt I got a better
feel for the car,
making some
real progress.
And in the final stint I
managed to improve my fastest lap time to finish
on a positive.”
Team Boss Stuart Parker was equally
impressed, commenting: “Considering
Michael has not driven
in anger for a while he adapted to the
Porsche very quickly in the short session in which he was
driving. I
am sure with more time in the car he would only get stronger." Michael
added: “I
really
enjoyed my test with Team Parker Racing. They are a very successful
team and I knew
I would have
a good car underneath me; it was a great drive and I felt
really confident in its capabilities. A big
thank you to
all at Team Parker Racing for providing me with this opportunity.”
