Moyers upbeat after Brands Hatch weekend
Formula BMW racer Michael Moyers was upbeat despite failing to finish either of the UK Championship
rounds at Brands Hatch this weekend. Moyers, 22, was hit from behind in the first race and then run off
the track following a coming together in the second, but still preferred
to point to the positives.
Having taken 16 th and 11 th position on the 21-car grid from Saturday's qualifying sessions, the
youngster, in only his second outing of the season, raced well and made places before both his races
came to a premature end, having already spun out at the infamous Paddock Hill bend in the second
qualifying session.
Moyers said "I want
to thank the team at Hyperion for working so hard to get the car
ready for race one
and then again
to beat the odds and get the car out for the second. In the second
qualifying session I
had just set my fastest lap and, knowing how
competitive the field is, I wanted to really push on and try
to find
the extra tenth or two that would have meant a big leap in my grid
position, but I carried a touch
too much speed through Paddock Hill
and ended up in the gravel. The guys had the car in perfect order
for the first race and it was very disappointing that my aim of getting
it home safely was thwarted on the
penultimate lap by what was deemed
to be a 'racing incident'"
